Continuing Spacebomb’s bi-weekly series at Balliceaux, Fight the Big Bull performs with conductions by Brian Jones next Wednesday.

The father of Richmond’s jazz and experimental music scenes, drummer and composer Brian Jones is known for his extensive work with the rock outfit Agents of Good Roots, his wide-reaching studio work, and his prolific output as a bandleader and solo musician on his jazz-and-beyond label Slang Sanctuary. Taking a cue from the pioneer of “conduction,” Lawrence “Butch” Morris, Jones will lead Fight the Big Bull through group improvisations and pre-conceived music with an array of hand gestures. Listen to Jones bring his compositional voice out of Richmond’s favorite little big band live and on the spot.
